Description

Wireless 4G/5G, Bluetooth (AddInsight®) and Wi-Fi (optional), SFP Fibre (NBN compatible – Australia) Managed Router

The Dataplex DPX-529 is a robust, high-performance LAN/WAN industrial router, engineered for mission-critical connectivity in both non-SCATS® and SCATS® environments. Two models are available:

DPX-529-02 – Supports SCATS® traffic signal controller integration with a dedicated DE-9 serial port, SCATS® protocol support, SD card-based configuration, and the DPX_Configure console interface.

High-speed wireless connectivity via 4G LTE / 5G, with optional Wi-Fi and Bluetooth sensing (AddInsight® compatible - optional).
Redundant connectivity via optional dual-modem SIM configuration, allowing failover and load balancing across multiple mobile networks. SIM cards can be assigned per modem or paired to a single modem.
Low-latency communication, ideal for real-time applications like live traffic streaming and motorway CCTV systems.

1 x SFP 2.5GbE port for Fibre modules such as NBN (Australia) FTTP (GPON) or OT fibre networks.
Supports ADSL2+/VDSL2 via SFP or optional M.2 modem module.
2 x Gigabit Ethernet LAN/WAN ports for flexible network topologies.
1 x SD card slot for system configuration and local data storage.
8 x opto-isolated digital inputs and 8x outputs, with 12V source and 1 relay output (DPX-529-02 only).
1 x DE-9 TIA-232 serial port (DPX-529-02) for SCATS®-specific communication.
1 x USB-A 3.0 port (compatible with serial converters) and 1 x USB-C console port.
Reliability & Monitoring
Failover support for NBN FTTP or fibre communications using wireless backup.
LED indicators for mobile signal strength, SCATS® status and RS-232 activity (DPX-529-02).
CLI access via OpenWRT, enabling full network configuration and diagnostics.
Intelligent failover and auto-reconnect using built-in network monitoring tools.
SNMP v3 support for secure remote monitoring.
Ansible compatibility for automated provisioning, configuration management, and software deployment.
SCATS® Integration
The DPX-529-02 is fully compatible with SCATS® traffic signal control systems, offering the following integration features:
SCATS® Serial-to-Ethernet Conversion: Converts serial SCATS® communications from traffic signal controllers to IP-based networks, enabling integration with modern infrastructure.
DPX_Configure Interface: Provides local or remote SCATS® configuration and status management via the built-in DPX_Configure console tool.
SCATS® Status Monitoring and Control: Includes dedicated monitoring of SCATS® protocol bits such as:

  • MSS (Miscellaneous Status Signal) – Indicates controller status and health.
  • XSF (Extra Special Facility) – Enables SCATS® to trigger remote functions or overrides.
Standalone "Sign Mode" Operation: When used outside traditional serial SCATS® applications, the DPX-529 can operate in a simplified signaling mode, particularly suited to the DPX-529-01. Example features include:

  • External inputs used to signal events (e.g., low battery, sensor triggers such as tilt or height detection).
  • Input states mapped to output relays or opto-isolated lines using logical scripting.
  • Remote reset or control via SCATS® using XSF
Future Expansion and/or Optional
Modular Wi-Fi/Bluetooth support for traffic data sensing (AddInsight® compatible).
M.2 interface for future DSL module upgrades, supporting ADSL/2/2+ Annex A/M, VDSL2 (including Vectoring and Profiles 8, 12, 17a, 35b).
